Garage sales are filled with baby items. Toys, clothes, furniture, bedding . . . once outgrown, out they go.
Craigslist and other internet classified sites have listing after listing of baby stuff that parents are trying to clear out. You’ll find clothes and stuffed animals, puzzles and books, cribs and high chairs . . . but you’ll never find a personalized baby blanket.
The personalized blanket with a baby’s name and maybe his or her date of birth lovingly embroidered on it becomes a family treasure. It may be carefully folded and kept in a box with other keepsakes that a parent just can’t part with. It may become a family heirloom. Or it may still be very much in use as the blanket of choice on a little one’s bed or the security blanket that gives them confidence in those early years.
It’s the personal gifts that new parents treasure most.
To celebrate or mark a special occasion like a christening, family members and close friends often want to give a gift that will last and will find its way into a box of keepsakes. The choices for gifts that will endure and yet be useful have been limited. But a personalized and embroidered baby blanket or quilt will endure, even for generations.
