Freelander tailgate lock problem

The latch contains the micro-swtich that signals the control module that the latch is made. It sounds like you are not getting a good contact at this switch. Goto the passenger front footwell, remove a little cover that sits on the front of a white box (cjb). This will expose the internal fusebox. There is a fuse on the lower row a few in from the bottom left. It will be a 7.5amp fuse.
